Soil Conservation Board
The Soil Conservation Board (SCB) was established to control and preserve the removal of soil, gravel, rock, and allied products thereto.
The SCB controls removal of these resources, along with the final use of the land after the "earth" has been removed, through a permitting process. Each permitted operator must post a performance bond which the Town holds to ensure that the operational plan is followed, and to ensure that the property is left in a beneficial, environmentally safe condition.
The members of the SCB are made-up of the Board of Selectmen and one member each from the Planning Board and Conservation Commission.
